    xbox live failed

    i was in a lobby playing GOW on live and i was booted from the games because i lost the connection to live.  when i tried to log back in i couldn't.  i was getting a error message saying there was a problem with my connection.  so i tried rebooting the system then my router and my girl came up and asked me what happened to her 360 connection.  i told her what heppened so she went back down and tried to connect and was able to connect to live with my other name (dres 7979). 
    i have been trying to connect since about 4pm and still nothing.  when i do the connection test it comes back as failed for XBOXLIVE.  i just read on the forums HERE from "fatbob"
     
    "Just to clear up the situation, the only people that should be affected by this particular problem are those who did the following:

    1. Created an account on xbox.com sometime since October.
    2. Recovered the account on an Xbox 360.
    3. Subsequently lost the 360 profile, e.g. due to deletion or corruption.


    If this doesn't describe your situation, then you may have an unrelated problem and you should call customer support.


    We're working hard to get this problem resolved. In the meantime, if you wish to play multiplayer games, try creating a new, temporary silver account on your 360. Depending on how many accounts you've created before, you may be offered a free 1 month gold trial.


    Once again, many apologies for the inconvenience this is causing."

    i just hope this is fixed ASAP

    Hey I'm having the same exact problem and it's quite frustrating.  I just received a new system after my old one had the red rings of death.  Funny thing is I didn't need to recover my profile because of my hard drive and it worked the first day.  However, on 12/22 it stopped working.  Sometimes the connection test fails at the xbox live part and other times it passes.  When it does pass, once I try to log in it doesn't work.  YAY FOR XBOX LIVE

    hey i was on xbox live yesterday (23rd Dec, 2007) and then came off. That night i came back on and had no connection. I recovered my gamertag but at the end when it says 'downloading from xbox live' it coms up ' failed to connect to xbox live' yet every time i do a test connection the xbox live says it is connected. If anyone knows how to fix this or is having the same problem then please add a comment.

    Hey. My xbox live has been working fine for 6 months now with no problems whatsoever, but today(Dec. 22) Xbox live went out after i logged into Playonline for Final Fantasy XI. I did the test, and it fails on XboxLive every time. are the servers down, or is it my console please send me a reply.

    Fak.  I was able to connect last night but now i'm failing on the xbox live connect test.  every other test is fine and the internets is good at my house.  Anyone who has a fix for this please post.  I'm bummed!

    Hey, I'm having trouble with my Xbox 360 and the Test Connection. I've had this Xbox since last Christmas, so it has almost been a year now, and I've had no trouble with it. But today ( December 21 ) after downloading the Halo 3 Heroic map-Pack I was unable to sign into Xbox Live. I did the Connection test and it failed on XboxLive. I did everything, unplugged my modem and router re-plugged them rebooted/restarted my 360, nothing worked.     Hi, I'm having a problem connecting to xbox live. I've received a replacement unit because mine got the three red lights issue. With the new unit when I turn it on it takes longer than usual to load the dashboard. When it does I try to recover my gamertag but it says that I need to download an update for my console when I accept tp perform It gives me an error saying it could not connect. I tried the test connection process and passed all test but the Xbox live one. Called tech support and after all the troubleshooting process they suggested I change my service provider(Adelphia- Power Link) so I did and went and got to my office and tried their connection(Verizon's DMAX DSL service) and still got the same results. With my previous system I was able to login effortlesly to XBL for the past two years and no problem till the red lights.

    It's been three months now since all this started(Three red lights) and still cannot play with my system. If anyone can give me any solution
